COLCHESTER United's under-18s beat AFC Bournemouth 6-3 today in an amazing game, writes BRIAN WALLER.

Jamie Arnold scored twice, including one penalty, while recent signing Ollie Godziemski was also on target along with Rashaad Douglas, Samson Uwandu and Kai Martin, who scored a penalty.

The win followed Colchester under-18s' 1-0 defeat to Peterborough United, at Park Drive.

This was only Posh's third season in Professional Development League Two, with each of the previous meetings between the sides at Florence Park.

The first saw a well contested 2-2 draw but in a rather one-sided match last season, Posh won 5-0 with all the goals coming in the second half.

There was a good save by Colchester keeper Jack Sexton on nine minutes and in a quiet start, the U's forced a corner after some good build up play but the visitors dealt with this.

Half-time arrived with it still scoreless and things very tight.

After the break home left back Makhaya James was booked and soon after this, the visitors had the ball in the net but this was ruled out for offside.

A double U's change saw Samson Uwandu and Daniel Banjoko replace Jamie Arnold and Alamin Kosoko, on 58 minutes.

However Peterborough took the lead on 65 minutes through Joe Davies.

Colchester were so close to equalising as a header was saved on the back post but fell to a narrow loss.
