I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Julian, from Clacton railway station customer services, and the other staff involved, on Friday, August 27. My 55- year-old sister, with various disabilities, was embarking upon her return trip to Chelmsford that day, a trip she was already anxious about.
Confusions about her ticket, platform and the accumulating crowds additionally stressed her out to the point she was on the brink of not being able to make the trip at all.
However, upon summoning the support of Julian, who took full stock of my sister’s unfortunate situation and how very anxious she was, her predicament was soon satisfactorily resolved.
She was enabled to make her return trip, further facilitated by the staff on board the train.
This support greatly reduced by sister’s anxieties and she subsequently experienced a safe and comfortable trip to Chelmsford, where she was assisted to disembark the train onto the platform.
This just goes to show that those with disabilities, especially those who are anxious, must request support appropriately, should they require it, so their trip can be relatively stress free.
Certainly, in my sister’s case, it made a huge difference.
It is not always possible for those with disabilities to travel with a companion.
Indeed, for some it makes for a huge achievement for them to undertake the trip alone! Thank you, on behalf of Christine!
