A solid platform laid down by the forwards and mesmerising running by their backs left Colchester Rugby Club coach Tim Grimsey singing the praises of his players after their seven-try demolition of Brentwood.
It was a win that kept the pressure on second-placed Sidcup in the London League division one north promotion race and Grimsey was delighted with the majority of the team’s performance.
He said: “We played really well for 50 minutes of the match with some really good rugby.
“We started well with an early try, before then having one disallowed and we had a little spell when we were trying to force it too hard.
“But apart from that, it was really good stuff.
“I think it is the most potent that I have seen our backs all season and they were running some really good angles."
