Tim Grimsey was glad to see that Colchester Rugby Club’s players took their “man-up pills” ahead of their successful trip to Tabard.
The Colchester coach was scathing about some of the team’s application the previous week, but was pleased that they had taken that message on board for their next outing.
It was a much-improved performance in testing conditions and Grimsey was full of praise after their 27-5 victory, which together with Chingford’s demise against Old Colfeians lifted Colchester up to third in London League division one north.
Grimsey said: “The lads were excellent.
“The way we kept going was fantastic as Tabard played like a team scrapping for their lives.
“We threw everything at them, but they defended really well.
“Calum Irvine had his best performance in a Colchester shirt.
“He was outstanding, but everyone played their part.
“They all took their man-up pills."
