STEVE Pitt has resigned as FC Clacton manager in order to take over at Ridgeons League premier division rivals Stanway Rovers.
Stanway made an official approach via Clacton co-owner David Ballard on Monday.
They needed to find a replacement for Wayne Bond, who quit last Thursday.
Pitt decided to put the issue on the back-burner early in the week, instead concentrating on Tuesday’s pre-season friendly at Gas Recreation.
But he spent Wednesday mulling over his future and handed in his resignation during an evening meeting with Ballard and co-owner Stephen Andrews.
It is thought Ray Turner, Pitt’s newly-appointed assistant at Clacton, has also left to join Stanway.
