Tim Grimsey has allowed his Colchester Rugby Club players some relaxation time this week, but he doesn’t want to see it intrude on to the pitch.
The Colchester coach said the players would be given time off from training duties following the 36-24 win at Brentwood that kept their slim London League division one north promotion hopes alive.
However, he felt a relaxed approach during that game against Brentwood contributed to them making harder work of the win than was necessary and feels it is a trait that needs to be removed before next season.
Grimsey said: “At 26-10, we had got the bonus point and we didn’t think they could hurt us.
“We just relaxed too much and thought it was job done, but it wasn’t."
See this week's Essex County Standard for more reaction and a round-up of all the local rugby action.
