Jamie Cureton is willing to strike out with Colchester United again.

The 33-year-old Norwich City goal-getter is currently disillusioned with his lot at Carrow Road and would welcome another loan move to the Coca-Cola League One club.

Frustrated by his lack of first team starts with the Canaries – only three to date this term – Cureton, a 24-goal hero in the U’s first season of Championship football, told the Gazette: “If Colchester came in for me again I wouldn’t rule out another loan move.

“I enjoyed the best season of my career with Colchester United after an initial loan spell in which I scored seven goals in nine games.

“At the time I wasn’t getting a game with a team (Swindon Town) in a lower division, but Parky (former U’s boss Phil Parkinson) placed his faith in my ability and it worked out great for me and Colchester to prove these loan deals can work.

“Suddenly everyone wanted to know me. I couldn’t stop scoring for Swindon on my return.

“But I did my bit for Colchester the following season which gave me the chance to come back and play in the Championship.

“If it hadn’t been for that successful loan spell I would probably have missed out on that great season and the chance to score all those goals.

“To finish that season with the Golden Boot as the Championship’s top scorer was brilliant.

“I loved my time at Layer Road and I wouldn’t say no if Colchester came in with a loan deal for me again.”
