Joe Dunne believes Colchester United’s fans will be patient with the journey that their team is on.

The U’s assistant manager says the team is embarking on a new path this season, with boss John Ward introducing changes to the way they play.

One particular highlight so far was the 4-1 hammering of Oldham in the U’s last npower League One outing at home and they will be looking for a similar show when Leyton Orient come to the Weston Homes Community Stadium tomorrow.

It is a more attacking style that the players are having to adapt to this year and while it may bring frustrations when things don’t work, Dunne feels the fans appreciate what is trying to be achieved.

He said: “I’ve been here a long time and I know our fans are good and stick with the team.

“There may be some frustration, but they understand it is a learning curve for us all."
