John-Joe O'Toole is set to make a long-awaited comeback for Colchester United this lunchtime when their reserves take on Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
O'Toole, 22, has been out for the last ten months, after suffering a serious knee injury playing for the U's in a 1-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic in April, 2010.
However, the former Watford midfielder has now returned to training and is ready to play at least 45 minutes when Colchester take on the Earthquakes at Spurs Lodge.
The game kicks off at 1pm.
Striker Steven Gillespie is also expected to figure, following his hamstring injury.
Colchester manager John Ward said: "The Earthquakes are over here for a week, prior to their MLS season.
"They are based at Tottenham's training ground (Spurs Lodge) and we're playing them there.
"Frank Yallop is in charge of that team and we have some Ipswich connections here, with Richard Hall and Tony Humes."
