Croydon schoolboy Daniel De-Gale won the Ethnic Diversity award for his efforts to raise awareness of the need for black people to help leukaemia sufferers from Afro-Caribbean backgrounds. The 15-year-old, who was diagnosed with the disease in 1993, used his illness and recovery to appeal for more black bone marrow donors to come forward.
