Mark Cousins is hoping Chelmsford City win their replay and book a mouth-watering meeting with Colchester United in the first round of this season’s FA Cup.

The U’s goalkeeper was born and raised in Chelmsford and regularly watched their home games with his friends, before making the grade at Colchester.

Cousins said: “It’s a draw to really look forward to whatever happens and I hope on a personal note we play Chelmsford.

“I used to go and watch their home games when I was a school kid."

Would make most sense to play this at WHCS and then Chelmsford (or ET) can make more money as a result. Surely interest in this (e.g. what would be their 'Cup Final') might perversely attract the biggest WHCS crowd of the season? There's little value in squeezing 3,000 into Melbourne Park and having 3,000 locked outside apart from 'home advantage'. However, as none of the competing sides are going to win the FA Cup, let's make this the Essex Cup Final at the most suitable venue.

With Braintree and Southend also at home, make it the televised SUNDAY game too. More sensible as regards Essex police resources, transport etc.

Molly is the daughter of Chelmsford's assistant manager,Dave Rainford,33,who was
given a free transfer by the U's,along with Joe Dunne,in Mick Wadsworth's
infamous clear out in 1999.
After Molly Rainford sang Ave Maria on Britain's Got Talent,BGT judge
David Walliams told her :
"Molly,in years to come when you are a world famous singer,people will look
back at this clip and say 'oh my,she was even fantastic when she was eleven years old.That was absolutely astonishing.Well done."
Molly will be twelve on November 22.

While I sort of see your point, it is quite frankly, absolutely none of your business. It is up to the home club (and I'm quietly confident it will be my beloved City, but they will have to improve on Saturday), to decide if they wish to switch the tie. And home advantage makes an upset a little more possible (City actually tend to play better away from the narrow Melbourne Park pitch, but that's against kick and rush non-league teams, rather than a good footballing full time side like Dunne's U's), so it should hardly be overlooked. So I respectfully urge you to keep your nose out of our deliberations.

The pair of them would cost well in excess of £1m. We have absolutely NO chance of signing them permanently. They are far too good for League 1.

Just back from East Thurrock, and I really don't know what to say about what I've just seen. I've perhaps witnessed the best game I've ever been to, and in the end, just, we did it. Hard luck on East Thurrock, the underdogs pushed us all the way over the two games, I can only hope we can do something similar in a couple of weeks. Not one, but two stoppage time equalisers from the Rocks (as well as the one on Saturday), and at those moments, and especially even more so when we went 3-2 down early in extra time, I thought my dream tie was curtains. God knows where the ref got an 18 minute second half of extra time from, or his decision to disallow a Kenny Clark goal which would have put City 3-1 up. But it matters not, it's City v the U's!
