John-Joe O'Toole scored twice for Colchester United reserves in their 2-1 friendly win over a West Ham United development side this afternoon.

O'Toole, making his comeback from a groin injury, netted twice in the first half before being withdrawn after 74 minutes of the match at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Freddie Piquionne grabbed the Hammers consolation goal just before the hour mark but the U's held out for victory.

Colchester defender Matt Heath limped out of the win with a hamstring injury.

Glad to see Jon Jo back, and he wasn't just all talk on his previous post, as he manged to score 2. I think he'll find it tough to get into the team now though, unless he replaces Woody, as Bean and Eastmond are playing fantastically at the moment.

Yes it's good to see JJ back. I think he'll probably be on the bench for the next game or two and come on as a substitute at some stage. He took his goals well and it was a question of being in the right place at the right time on both counts. I can't see JD changing the team for the next game or two.

More of a worry is the central defence. With Matt Heath now injured we are down to youngsters as cover on the bench, although John White has played there on more than one occasion.

In yesterday's Gazette web page news it said the game was tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday), I wonder how many people would have turned up if they knew the right time, I for one would have?

I wouldn't have know if I hadn't seen it on the official website Monday. Always worth keeping check just in case. Anyways, apart from the 2 goals obviously, can't say that J-J was all that. Not enough to displace anyone in the present team anyways.

UP THE U'S !
