Colchester United will not be appealing the red card shown to striker Clinton Morrison in last night's 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town.

Morrison was sent off for violent conduct in the closing stages of the U's Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at Sixfields, after appearing to throw an arm at Cobblers defender David Artell.

The former Republic of Ireland striker will now serve a three-match ban, meaning he will miss the U's forthcoming games against Stevenage, Carlisle United and Leyton Orient.

The trouble is, the officials are aware of your previous history and I feel you may be a target for overly zealous observation and treatment. I know it is unfair, but 'Big Roy' used to suffer the same treatment, earning himself the reputation of 'Red card Roy'. Take it on the chin (violent expression) and learn from the incident. Enjoy the rest, hope it revitalises your passion in front of goal! Up the U's!!
