Ward - U's are not far away from first win
1:36pm Sunday 9th September 2012 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
John Ward looks on as his team go down 1-0 at Brentford
John Ward admitted he was disappointed that his Colchester United side had nothing to show for their efforts, following their 1-0 defeat at Brentford.
A late header from Farid El Alagui condemned the U’s to a last-gasp defeat, leaving them without a win in League One this season.
Ward said: “We’re disappointed that we’ve come away with nothing but we have to keep our spirits up.
“They’ll be OK and we have a home game coming up on Saturday (against Doncaster Rovers) where we’ll go out and try and get the result that we’re looking for.
“I think we’re pretty close (to a first win), with the honesty I’ve got with this group of people.
“It’s up to Joe (Dunne) and me to regain the confidence but keep the same attitude towards the team.”
See Monday’s Gazette for a full match report, pictures and reaction from the U’s game at Brentford.

To be honest, I think we are far from close to getting a win. Hopefully i'm wrong.
JW your team-talk must be terrible.

I'll try and turn up on Saturday, let's hope that I'm not just close to turning up. But then again, being close to turning up would make me like Wordsworth in most games this season.

John Ward, please a take a long hard look at the Olympians and Paralympians. I don't think any of them turned up thinking we'll try. They have a winning mentality.Something you need to install into the team.

Why don't you TRY elsewhere Ward, or TRY telling Cowling to sack you. Pathetic quote to the U's fan, who are reading this. I think Ward you have made the team to TRY and get draws, and not win for all the time you have been with the U's. Don't be surprised to hear WARD OUT! Chants, because us fans are TRYING to persuade Cowling to sack you.
