John-Joe O'Toole has committed his future to Colchester United after signing a two-year deal with the club.

The midfielder, who was signed by former U's boss Aidy Boothroyd in September 2009, was due to see his contract expire this summer.

However, the 23-year-old has now sorted out his future and will now be at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until 2014.

The contract will be a boost to O'Toole, who endured a frustrating campaign just gone.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international managed only 16 appearances in a season that was distrupted at times by injuries and suspension.

That's good news, hopefully he'll get paid for playing rather then sitting in the medical room. Is Rowlands still with us?
