Odejayi reflects on "unbelievable" time at U's
5:22pm Thursday 17th May 2012 in Sport By Matt Plummer
Departing striker Kayode Odejayi has reflected on an “unbelievable” time at Colchester United.
The powerful front man has ended his three-year stay with the U’s by signing for Rotherham United.
Last season’s supporters’ player-of-the-year says he has nothing but fond memories from his time with the club – and admits it was an agonising decision to leave.
“It was a really tough decision, with pros and cons to consider either way, but, having chatted at length with my partner, I feel I’ve made the right decision,” he said.
“She’s from that neck of the woods, we’re getting married in the summer, we plan to try for children in the not too distant future and it will be better for her to be around her close family when that happens.
“The move had to be right on the football front, as well, and I believe it’s a great time to be joining Rotherham.”

Kayode is moving up north to start a family etc. I for one do not hold anything against him, and am grateful for his sevices for the past 3 years.
Even through the times where he wasnt starting frequently, we never heard complaints. He knuckled down, and worked hard for the team when he got time on the pitch. Always gave 100%.
As for the amount of goals, if you cannot see what he brought to the team, then i question your knowledge of the beautiful game! He was never here to be a 20+ goal striker.
Rotherham are a club that are going places, and im sure there is a strong chance of his being back in league one in a couple of seasons.
Good Luck Kayode, i hope JW is already working hard to secure replacements, although i fear we will get the usual left overs at the end of august!
