Not mr wards biggest fan, just cant understand Heath being given another contract the guy is not the best.Probaly this means Magnus is on his way out, thank god we have Eastman.Maybe a good opportunity for young Bender and the guy from Watford, whats his name???
Spending a few days at my daughters gave me the oportunity to watch the reserves against Luton reserves yesterday. Most of their team was made up of young kids. Their number 10 Dan Walker who scored both goals for Luton beat Mat for pace time and again and was a real handfull. I'm all for youth like you,but young Bender was playing yesterday more as a left back as Aldred and Heath were in the middle. To me Tom Bender has not got the build to be a centre back so I feel he would be a better more as a midfielder. You need height and muscle and as much as i like Tom I feel he is a bit light weight for being in the middle. Nothing set in stone just an observation. Without doubt the best player on the pitch yesterday was Bradley Hamilton. Good at going forward with good passing ability and never stopped running. Was here there and every where, defintely my kind of player and a must first teamer next year."

Heath latest to be offered new U's deal

Hoping to stay - Colchester United defender Matt Heath has been offered a new contract with the club. Hoping to stay - Colchester United defender Matt Heath has been offered a new contract with the club.

Matt Heath has revealed he has been offered the chance to stay at Colchester United next season.

And the experienced defender is keen to join Karl Duguid and commit his future to the U’s.

Heath, 31, is one of around a dozen Colchester players who are due to see their present deals expire this summer.

But he has already spoken to U’s manager John Ward about staying at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, beyond the current campaign.

Heath said: “I’ve spoken to the gaffer about next season and hopefully I’ll be able to get something sorted out.

“I’ve been offered a contract and I’d like to stay here, as long as everything is right.

“We’re happy around the area and I’m guessing it’s a case of sorting everyone’s personal terms out and doing what’s right for yourself and your future.

“It would be nice to be here next season – I’ve had four full seasons here and it’s been the longest I’ve been at a club, aside from maybe youth team.”
