Stern John wants to extend his stay at Ipswich Town.

And the loan striker, due to return to Crystal Palace at the end of this month, boosted his chances by scoring in Saturday’s pulsating 3-2 victory against Coventry at Portman Road.

Town won in the most dramatic of fashion, with rumoured Sheffield Wednesday target Pablo Counago netting deep in stoppage time after Richard Wood had levelled for the Sky Blues.

He said: “I’d like to stay and the goal will obviously help my cause.

“It’s up to the manager, though, and I haven’t spoken to him yet."
