Tosin Olufemi is confident Colchester United can maintain their winning streak after playing his part in their last two victories.

Olufemi has returned to the U’s starting line-up after a wait of nearly 18 months and helped Tony Humes’ side maintain their fine run in League One.

Colchester have been one of the most prolific teams in the division over recent weeks and Olufemi says he is enjoying playing in a confident side.

Humes said: “I’m positive that we can keep doing well and keep winning games.

“Our front three is frightening, when you look at some of the goals we’re scoring.

“I wouldn’t want to play against them!

“It’s the first time I’ve properly played with these boys and this team as a whole is solid and a good unit.”

Olufemi admits he was surprised to return to Colchester’s starting line-up at Swindon Town, last weekend.

But the U’s right-back, who missed almost the whole of last season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, says playing regularly for the under-21s this season helped him.

“It was good to start and great to be back with a win against a good Swindon side away,” said Olufemi, who also played in the 2-0 win over Bradford City.

“I found out the day before the game that I’d be involved and I was surprised but I’ve been playing in the under-21s and just waiting for my chance.

“I’d been injured and trying to get back in the team, so it was an opportunity for me to try and prove that I can do it.

“It helped that I’ve been playing regularly for the under-21s, playing in the style of the first team.

“You’re adapting and getting ready for the chance of being in the first team.

“The under-21s are doing really well at the moment and winning a lot of games but we have to do the stuff that the first team do.

“We have to keep working hard and treat it as if it’s first team and be ready if you get that call.”
