FRINTON Cricket Club have defied all expectations by finishing as Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League runners-up.
In their first season among the elite, they just hoped to survive and consolidate.
Instead, they cemented second spot following today's four-wicket victory in their final fixture, at home to Vauxhall Mallards.
Dan Carter took three wickets and there were two apiece for Kyran Young, Gi Dilruk and Mervyn Westfield as Mallards - who started the day in second spot - were dismissed for 153.
Westfield then scored 46 and Ted Moulton 42 as Frinton got home with four wickets to spare.
