FC CLACTON’S Joe Fowler is dreaming of another FA Cup adventure.

The goalkeeper played in all six games when the Seasiders reached the second qualifying round in the 2013/14 season.

He made his debut in the extra preliminary round against Sporting Bengal United and then played in subsequent ties against Hullbridge Sports, Brentwood Town and North Greenford United.

The last two both went to replays, with Clacton eventually bundled out at North Greenford.

However, Fowler looks back on the run with great fondness and would love a repeat this season.

Clacton are preparing for a preliminary round tie at home to Aveley on Saturday, having already dispatched Eton Manor.

“Our FA Cup run a couple of years ago gave me my best memories in senior football,” said the popular shot-stopper, who rejoined in the summer after spells with Brantham Athletic and Stanway Rovers.

“We had a few scalps and beat several teams at home, including (Ryman League side) Brentwood.

“It was the highlight of our season.

“The Bowl became a bit of a fortress and to this day I don’t think sides like coming to Clacton. Aveley won’t like it, either.

“That can only work to our advantage and we’ve got to make sure it’s not an enjoyable trip for them.

“Hopefully we’ll get a big crowd because that makes a big difference.”

The winners of Saturday’s tie face a first qualifying round match at Histon.
