Colchester United striker Macauley Bonne has been named in the Zimbabwe squad for their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea next month.

The 19-year-old, who has started the U's last four league and cup games, has been called up by the Warriors for the international which takes place at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, September 6.

Bonne made his Zimbabwe debut last November in a friendly against Morocco, capping his appearance with a goal after 18 minutes.

The striker's inclusion in the squad could pose a problem for the U's, who are currently short of attacking options, with the Zimbabwe game taking place on the same weekend as Colchester's League One trip to play Sheffield United (September 5).

Captain Chris Porter is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and may not be fit to face his former club at Bramall Lane, while Dan Holman is currently away on loan at National League side Woking.

Colchester boss Tony Humes is trying to bring in either a permanent or loan signing to bolster his attacking options but as yet has been unable to bring in the players he wants.
