Colchester United boss Tony Humes says he is casting his net elsewhere after his attempts to sign a forward on a season-long loan fell through at the last minute.
The U’s were expecting to announce the capture of a wide attacking player from Rotherham United, in readiness for the big kick-off this weekend.
Colchester had agreed a deal in principle with the Championship club, for the unnamed player.
But Rotherham pulled the plug on the potential deal, leaving Humes to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
