Colchester United are willing to allow goalkeeper Chris Lewington to leave on loan after he fell down the pecking order at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Elliot Parish’s summer arrival has relegated Lewington to third-choice keeper at the U’s.
And the former Dagenham and Redbridge custodian, who made only two senior starts for Colchester last season, is keen to play regular football.
U's boss Tony Humes said: “There was a possibility that Chris was going to go out to somebody last week but it didn’t quite happen.
“As we said last season, the best bet for Chris at his age is to get some football.
“If that opportunity comes along, he’ll hopefully go out and play.
“At his age, he wants to be playing football – he doesn’t want to be sitting around not playing.
“We want to give him that opportunity and Chris recognises that.
“That’s the situation but he’s a great pro and while he’s here, he’ll get on with doing what he does.”
