COLCHESTER Swimming Club members impressed across three sessions at the annual Cambridge Open Meet.

Daniel Himsworth swam a big personal best (PB) time of three minutes 07.63 seconds to finish fourth in the ten year 200 metres freestyle.

Rory Bennett, Alex Tinnion and Kirin Yeung put in strong performances in the 14 year old category.

And Annie Bayliss (12 years) swam a five-second PB in the girls’ event.

Bennett claimed bronze in the 50m backstroke (32.58s) while Jasmine Bayliss (ten years) swam a 1.5-second PB, as did Lucy Morgan in the 11 year old 50m girls’ backstroke.

Kirin Yeung (14 years) won silver in the boys’ 100m butterfly event and Anita Tien (ten years) and Abbie McCarthy (13 years) won gold for the girls.

In the 11 years category, Lucy Morgan secured a four-second PB as did Molly White in the same age group.

Kirin Yeung won bronze, in the boys’ 200m individual medley.

Katie White (13 years) won silver in the girls’ 50m butterfly, while Lauren Wopling claimed a PB.

Sophie Talbot (12 years) clocked a three-second PB time of 44.37s while Alex Tinnion (14 years) also secured a PB in the boys’ event.

With more than 160 girls competing in the 100m freestyle event, competition was fierce.

Tien secured silver in the ten-year-old category and bronze in the 100m backstroke, where Abbie McCarthy won silver in the 13 year old category.

Team-mates Bennett, Tinnion and Yeung (14 years) also swam well in the boys’ event.

Colchester’s Molly Grieve (nine years) won bronze in the 50m breaststroke in a two-second PB, while Tien won bronze (ten years) and Amie Apps claimed a big PB in the ten-year age group.

The third and final session started with the girls’ 200m individual medley, where Molly Grieve (nine years) swam to gold in a terrific time of 3m 24.63s.

Yeung clocked a sub-30 second swim in the boys’ 50m freestyle (29.85s).

Colchester’s girls clocked PBs in the 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke to complete a productive day for the club.
