Colchester United continue their pre-season programme with a trip to play Ryman Premier new boys Brentwood Town tonight.

But U's fans will have to wait a little longer to get their first glimpse of new signing George Elokobi sporting the club's shirt again.

Elokobi has been ruled out of the game against the Blues and may have to wait for at least a fortnight before featuring in a friendly.

The powerful defender missed the start of the U’s pre-season, having only returned to the club for a second spell earlier this month.

Humes added: “George won’t be ready for a couple of weeks.

“He’s doing a different pre-season to everybody else and we knew that when he came in.

“We just have to look at which game is right to pitch him in.

“In terms of experience and playing it won’t be a problem - it’s just about choosing the right time.”

Colchester will play a different side in each half against Brentwood, adopting a similar approach to the one adopted for their opening friendly at Heybridge Swifts last weekend.

The U's want each of their players to get another 45 minutes under their belt, with the side that played in the second half in the 8-0 win at Swifts likely to start against Dean Holdsworth's side tonight.

Keeper Sam Walker and defender Jamie Harney are both still sidelined through injury and will not feature.
