Mark Sansom will be leading Braintree Town for their final Vanarama Conference Premier game of the season when they host Altrincham Town today.

The club’s Academy manager will stay as caretaker boss after taking the reins following last week’s departure of Alan Devonshire and he said it will be an added bonus to be in charge of the team he loves on their home turf.

“It will be a special day and an absolutely amazing experience,” he added.

“It’s a little cup final for us as if we beat Altrincham, we will jump above them and whoever else we can by getting a result.

“I just hope we get a decent crowd and as many people there in orange and blue that we can.

“A potential new manager could be in the stand and it’s about showing them what we are about both on and off the pitch.”

However, there may be a number of injury worries for Braintree to deal with.

Sansom added: “I’ll be shocked if Ryan Peters makes it due to his knee injury, but it will be a massive bonus if he is fit.

“We’ll have a look at him and also at Sean Marks, but I think he could also be out as the ankle that he was struggling a bit with got stood on at Wrexham.

“Chez Isaac is definitely out with a hamstring problem, but we’re hopeful that Matt Paine will be OK.

“He got a broken nose at Wrexham, but we’ve been told that he can have it reset next week and then won’t play for six weeks so he should be ok for Saturday.

“He may have to play with a mask but we are hopeful.

“Jordan Cox is the other one that we’re watching as he felt his glute a bit on Saturday, but he should be fine.”
