A SMALL squad of Harwich Swimming Club members took part in the Halstead Open, at Braintree Swimming Pool.

All of them came away with a handful of medals and personal bests (PB).

Ruby Hammond came fourth in her 50 metres backstroke and achieved PBs, while gaining fifth place in the 50m freestyle and seventh in the 100m freestyle.

Stephanie Rice came second and got a PB in her 50m freestyle. She also came fifth in both the 50m butterfly and 100m individual medley (IM).

Holly Turner got PBs in both her events, managing a third place in the 100m individual medley and a fifth in the 50m breaststroke.

The Kent brothers were both in good form.

William gained PBs in all his three events, coming third in the 50m breaststroke, fifth in the 50m backstroke and sixth in the 50m freestyle.

Younger brother Matthew swam to a third place in the 50m backstroke, a fifth place in the 50m freestyle, eighth in the 100m individual medley and 12th in the 50m breaststroke.

He got PBs in the freestyle and IM.
