Sam Walker has vowed to do everything in his power to be fit for Colchester United’s vital trip to Chesterfield tomorrow night.

The popular goalkeeper has been an ever-present for the U’s in the league this season.

But that impressive record is in jeopardy after he suffered a knee injury in their defeat at Coventry City.

Walker landed awkwardly after jumping for a high ball in the closing stages of Colchester’s 1-0 loss at the Ricoh Arena and would have come off, had it not been for the fact that they had already used all of their substitutes.

The 23-year-old will be assessed again by U’s physio Tony Flynn today - but Walker says he is desperate to play at the Proact Stadium.

Walker said: “I want to be out on that pitch more than anything on Tuesday to help the team, as I’ve done all season."
