Despite being unhappy with his qualifying run in the opening round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Donington Park, Dunmow’s Jesse Trayler secured a top-ten spot in the first event of the year.

Trayler is racing for the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team this season on an in-house built ZX-10R, but could only place his bike 24th on the grid with a one minute 34.1 second lap.

He was not too happy with that and as the lights went green for the 16-lap race, Trayler started from where he had left off last season – chasing hard against bikes in front.

Midway through, he had passed several riders and managed to climb to eighth position and the remainder of the race saw him battling with those around him and swapping positions continually.

As the final few laps approached, though, he lost a few places and crossed the line in tenth spot which was an outstanding effort from starting 24th.

His opening finish put Trayler tenth in the championship standings on six points and he will be in action again on April 19 in round two at Brands Hatch.
