ISTANBUL: The Turkish bombing campaign attributed to Kurdish rebels

has claimed two more lives. Manchester Royal Infirmary last night

announced the death of Joanna Griffiths, 23, one of several Britons

injured in a blast at Marmaris holiday resort last week. Three other

Britons, all from one family, were injured in the Marmaris explosion and

three Britons were among the injured in a second explosion at Fethiye,

about 60 miles away. Earlier yesterday, a police officer attempting to

defuse a bomb in a wealthy residential area of the capital Istanbul was

killed when it exploded. Other blasts damaged stores and shook homes.

No-one claimed responsibility for the bombing spree, but Kurdish rebels

have carried out similar attacks in the past. Seven rebels and six

soldiers were reported killed yesterday in the Kurds' 10-year fight for

autonomy, in which 12,000 people have died.
