MICHAEL Roberts is in line for one of the most unusual prizes racing

has to offer today.

The winning jockey in the mile-and-a-quarter Eurolink Spitfire

Handicap at Goodwood is rewarded with a flight in one of the last

remaining Spitfires in service.

His mount, Country Lover, looks to have first-rate claims of earning

his rider a trip in the plane which won the Battle of Britain.

The colt is just the type to follow in his second season, a late

developer currently improving at a rate too fast for the handicapper to

catch up with him.

He has scored over a mile at Southwell and Salisbury this year and is

well enough weighted to win more races at that trip.

Both his pedigree and style of racing suggest that he will be even

more effective over this longer distance, which makes him look a

cracking bet today.

In the Schroders Glorious Rated Stakes Handicap, Quick Ransom and

Glide Path both look handicapped right up their best, which may leave

the way clear for Moon Carnival to land the prize. She still looks on

the upgrade, even at the age of four.
