August 10.

Jack McLean's article on the Lacrosse World Cup was full of sexism and

half-truths (August 9).

How he could come out with the statement ''undeniably an expensive

sport initially'' beats me. At #30 for a basic stick, plus a tennis

ball, lacrosse hardly breaks the piggy bank for youngsters.

Similarly, as he seems obsessed by the ''maturity'' of the Scotland

team, I can't help but wonder at what age a journalist is past his best.

Jack McLean may indeed have reached the grand age of 50, but what a lot

of maturing he still has to do.

With articles like this printed only two days into the World Cup does

The Herald care about demoralising the Scotland team -- despite the fact

that it won 13-5 in the first game? This is a sport Scotland is good at

so, come on, a bit of support please.
