Garry Kimble admits it’s results not performances that are important for his team.

The Witham Town boss knew their display against Peacehaven and Telscombe wasn’t their finest hour, but the three points they took were all that was in his mind as they gave themselves renewed hope of beating Ryman League premier division relegation this year.

They will now be hoping to back that encouraging result up when they head to East Thurrock United tomorrow.

Kimble said: “It wasn’t the best of games (against Peacehaven) but it’s not about performances now, it’s all about results.

“We defended well collectively as a team and even though it wasn’t the greatest of spectacles, I would rather win ugly and we did that.

“I know Hornchurch have a game in hand but survival is more back in our hands now and this win gives us an opportunity.

“We now have to back it up at East Thurrock on Saturday.

“We have nothing to fear and have to take the game to them as we need the points.

“I know the lads are giving me everything.

“They aren’t throwing in the towel as there is everything to play for.

“Had someone told me at the start of the season that with six games to go we’d be in a position where it’s not out of our hands then I would have taken it.

“You have to stay positive and you can’t go around with the hump.

“We have to be positive in everything we do.

“The trouble for us is our run-in is probably the hardest for any of the sides down there.

“We still have a chance, though, and it’s still in our hands.

“Hopefully we can do it.

“It will be a tall order but I think we can do it if we apply ourselves right.

“I’m confident and the players have to keep the belief as well.”

Kimble said he had signed Tilbury striker Harry Cook and he would come into the squad for the trip to Thurrock.

Cook has been the Dockers’ top scorer this season with eight goals from 17 appearances and Kimble said he was also hoping to have another new player, who has Conference Premier experience, in place for tomorrow’s game.
