Braintree Town will be focused on getting back to winning ways when they face Macclesfield Town in the Vanarama Conference Premier at the Miles Smith Stadium tonight after a tough run of games on the road.

The Iron have lost at FC Halifax Town, Bristol Rovers and Grimsby in their last three outing, but even though they were against a trio of promotion-chasing sides, Braintree felt unlucky not to get more from all three outings.

Devonshire said: “We’ve had three tough games when we probably should have got a result out of each one.

“I’m proud of the boys as they have given me everything and a manager and fans can’t ask for everything more than that.

“It hasn’t happened though and we now move on, but that won’t be easy against Macclesfield because we are down to bare bones “It’s one of those years when you get people back and then suddenly they are out again.”

Devonshire said Jordan Cox was likely to be out for another couple of weeks with the knee injury he sustained against Alfreton, while James Mulley was now facing several weeks out due to a groin problem.

The Iron boss said: “We tried giving James a chance at Grimsby, but it didn’t work and we now need to make sure he is OK so we’ll probably give him two to three weeks before trying that again.”

Ryan Peters is still struggling with a back problem and Devonshire said the full-back may be fit for a start tomorrow after getting 15 minutes at the end of Saturday’s game at Grimsby, but wouldn’t be risking him if his fitness wasn’t right.

Striker Bernard Mensah is also described as 50/50 as he looks to overcome a tight hamstring, while Chez Isaac is suspended, but Matt Paine will return from a one-match ban.
