George Moncur scored a dramatic late winner to book Colchester United’s progress in the FA Cup – and then targeted an Upton Park return in the third round.

Moncur struck in stoppage-time to help the U’s beat Peterborough United 1-0 in their second-round tie, in front of the live television cameras at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The midfielder’s goal came less than two minutes after Colchester goalkeeper Sam Walker had superbly saved Aaron McLean’s 88th-minute penalty and Christian Burgess had hit the woodwork for Posh.

And after sealing Colchester’s place in the hat for tonight’s third-round draw for the first time since 2011, the midfielder is now eying up a dream return to his former club West Ham United.

Moncur said: “I wouldn’t mind going back to West Ham in the third round – whatever God has planned for me I’ll do."
