Garry Kimble is calling on his Witham Town team to “be more ruthless and be prepared to win ugly” or face a Ryman League premier division relegation dog fight this season.

The Town boss admitted to feeling “dejected” as his team saw three points become one as they allowed a two-goal lead to slip away in the latter stages of their game at Lewes on Saturday.

It’s not the first time it has happened this year.

And with games coming up against sides struggling towards the foot of the table in the next few weeks – starting with home fixtures against Bury Town tomorrow and Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday – Kimble is demanding better from his players.

He said: “I felt really dejected because we’ve done it too many times – Peacehaven, Billericay, Kingstonian and now Lewes.

“At the moment we are doing ever so well, but not getting the rewards and it has to change otherwise we’ll be in a dog fight.

“People are saying that we’re too good to go down, but we have to show that now.

“We have to be more ruthless and be prepared to win ugly.

“Good teams do that.”
