Braintree and Bocking Angling Society’s Danny Mason is going through a golden spell at present.

After round five of the Essex Interclub League, hosted by Does Angling Club, Mason is leading the way in the individual points table on 45 and is also in the individual knockout final against Harwich’s Paul Chambers.

And to add to Mason’s good form, he has also made the final of the Riverfest event, a two-day match on the River Wye, which carries a prize fund of £29,000.

The winner will pick up £12,000 and each five-peg section is worth £250.

The Essex Interclub League match saw Does make their home advantage pay with team and individual wins.

Does won the team event with 44.5 points, from CAPS A on 43 and Maldon on 42.

The result put Maldon on top of the league with 44 points ahead of them hosting the final round on their canal.
