Maldon and Tiptree put in a great performance to take the win against Waltham Abbey.

The Jammers secured a 4-2 win Ryman League division one north win at Park Drive.

The visitors that took the lead after 15 minutes when Harry Elmes pulled the ball back for the unmarked Jason Hallett to slot home from close range.

The lead didn’t last for long, a minute later the home side equalised when Nathan Koranteng moved along the edge of the visitors’ penalty area and fired a powerful drive that flew into the top corner.

Maldon increased the pressure on the visitors and it told after 25 minutes when Tunde Adewunni gained possession of a loose ball after a tangle in the visitors’ defence and he moved forward before putting a good shot into the far corner.

Abbey hit back on 40 minutes when Elmes got a low cross in from the right and Jon Docker controlled well before getting his partly scuffed shot into the net just by the post.

Maldon took a deserved lead after 55 minutes.

A long kick forward was won against onrushing keeper Yates, was well controlled and then held up by Adewunni before passing back to Cliff Akurang just outside the penalty area for him to lob into an empty net.

Maldon increased their lead after 70 minutes.

The goal was made by the determination of Koranteng when he chased a long ball and then crossed to Adewunni who fired home.
