John McGreal will take charge of Colchester’s under-21s for the first time tonight.
The U’s youngsters travel to play Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road in Professional Development League Two, kick-off 7pm.
McGreal, who alongside Wayne Brown led the U's under-18 side to a league and cup double last season, was appointed as Colchester's under-21 manager last week following Richard Hall's elevation to assistant manager.
Midfielder Craig Eastmond, who was an unused substitute in the U's 0-0 draw at Walsall last Saturday, has been named in Colchester's squad for the game against Crewe.
Frankie Kent, Macauley Bonne and Dominic Smith are also in the squad to take on the Railwaymen.
