Colchester United legend Karl Duguid will revert to a position of youth-team coach, in the wake of Tony Humes' appointment as manager.

Duguid had been working alongside previous manager Joe Dunne and his assistant Mark Kinsella as first-team coach, following his retirement as a player at the end of last season.

However, he will now take up a position coaching the club's young players, following Humes' appointment and that of Richard Hall as his number two.

U's chairman Robbie Cowling said: “Karl won’t be working with the first team now.

“Since he retired from playing he’s been doing his coaching badges and we’ve been able to find him a position in the youth department.

“It’ll be great for his development, because he’ll be able to go and see football from that angle too.”
