Manager Alan Devonshire was pleased to see his Braintree Town players remain patient and secure their second consecutive 2-0 win in the Vanarama Conference Premier.

Having been unable to get a goal in the opening 45 minutes of their game at bottom-of-the-table Alfreton Town, the Iron did manage to go ahead after the break.

Kenny Davis headed in from Dan Sparkes’ corner in the 64th minute and it was then Sparkes himself who doubled the lead ten minutes from the end when he fired in from the edge of the box for Braintree’s third win of the campaign.

Devonshire said: “It was a good all-round performance and there are lots of pluses to come out of it.

“It may not have been the best to watch, but it was on a very dry pitch, we won it, kept a clean sheet and scored two goals so I’m very pleased.”
