STANWAY ROVERS striker Ray Turner admitted it was a strange feeling scoring against former club FC CLACTON.
But the ex-Seasiders boss says there was never any chance of him holding back in Tuesday’s Thurlow Nunn League showdown between the sides, at The Hawthorns.
Turner scored what proved the decisive goal in his side’s 2-1 victory, following Richie Meadows’ opener.
Clacton’s Jake Clowsley pulled one back late on to set up a grandstand finish.
However, Stanway held on for their first victory of the season, following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Newmarket.
Turner said: “It’s funny because whenever I play against one of my former sides I seem to score.
“I know everyone, from the players and management team to the supporters over at Clacton.
“It’s difficult but when I’m on the pitch, I always want to win for the team I’m playing for.
“That’s how I’ve built my reputation and I’ve got respect for being like that, so I was never going to hold back."
