BEN Newson netted twice as BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT ran out 4-2 winners in their pre-season friendly at FC CLACTON.
Regent’s summer signing gave his side a second-minute lead, taking advantage of some hesitancy in the home defence.
Louie Newland volleyed Clacton level before Newson scored again, bursting forward from midfield before firing an unstoppable shot beyond goalkeeper Liam Daniels.
Jake Plane fired the Seasiders back on to level terms at the start of the second half but Brightlingsea quickly reclaimed their lead thanks to Terry Rymer’s penalty.
Sean Bartlett then added a late fourth for Regent.
