Dunne happy with U's strong finish to the season
Colchester United manager Joe Dunne said he was delighted to see his side finish the season on a high following their 1-0 win at Walsall.
Craig Eastmond's strike early in the second half was enough to give the U's victory at the Banks's Stadium and help them end the season with back-to-back wins, securing them a 16th-place finish in League One.
Dunne said: “It was a good away performance and a positive end to the season in many respects.
“We’ve had three wins and a draw in the last five and as a group, we’ve managed to keep everybody fit and the results have happened.
“They’ve allowed us to stay in the league and finish the season strongly.
“I’m delighted for the chairman, the players and the supporters and everyone who’s stayed loyal to the club.
“There has been a lot of areas where people haven’t quite stayed loyal to the club, who have represented the club.
“They know who they are but what I want to focus on now is all of the people who have supported our young players.
“It was a strong finish and it came at the right time.
“We always talked about holding our nerve as a club and we did that and were able to produce, which was pleasing."
