Essex County Standard: Wright hopeful of being fit for Easter fixtures Wright hopeful of being fit for Easter fixtures

DAVID Wright says he should be fit for Colchester United’s double-header of Easter fixtures.

The defender or midfielder was left “on a different planet” after suffering a head injury in Saturday’s 3-2 victory at Stevenage.

He was concussed and, after being withdrawn at half-time, had to be taken to hospital.

However, the 33-year-old says he should be available for the matches against Oldham Athletic, tomorrow, and Crewe Alexandra, on Easter Monday.

“I’ve had a couple of days’ rest and feel fine now,” said the former Ipswich Town man.

“It wasn’t a nice injury, although I can’t say I remember too much about it actually happening.

“I’ve seen a video, though.

“The ball bounced, I bowed my head and their player raised his knee.

“It’s horrible to watch and I was on a different planet when the doctor saw me at half-time.

“There was no way I could carry on but hopefully I’m over it now.”
