Vose is still sure that U's will beat the drop

Dominic Vose is adamant out-of-sorts Colchester United can rediscover their spark and stay in League One.

The U’s have endured a miserable run of four straight defeats and only goal difference is keeping them above the relegation trapdoor.

However, Vose feels sure there is enough quality to get back on track and clamber away from danger.

And he hopes the fightback starts on Saturday, when Colchester make a crunch trip to basement boys Stevenage.

“I’m 100 per cent confident we’ll stay up, because there’s no way we should be in the situation we’re in,” said the former Barnet midfielder, who started his professional career with Fulham and then West Ham.

“We’re ten times better than the sides below us, even though our current performances and results may say differently.

“But I’m sure we’ve got enough to keep out of the relegation places and the boys are confident."

No Dom you’re correct we don’t deserve to be still above the drop zone, 24th place would be an accurate reflection of how we’ve performed for 95% of this season!

U’s form since 11th August 2013:

20. Crewe Alexandra P 39 W 11 D 09 L 19 F 46 A 72 -26 42pts
21. Shrewsbury Town P 39 W 09 D 13 L 17 F 37 A 47 -10 40pts
22. Notts County P 39 W 12 D 04 L 23 F 52 A 66 -14 40pts
23. Stevenage P 39 W 10 D 09 L 20 F 37 A 56 -19 39pts
24. Colchester United P 39 W 08 D 13 L 18 F 43 A 57 -14 37pts

Worryingly the sheer scale of the task facing the players to stave off relegation this season still seems to be completely lost on them! We need the penny to drop, these players need to face up to and recognize that they aren’t good enough for this league; therefore they need to scrap like their lives depend upon it for every minute of the remaining 5 matches just to stand a CHANCE of surviving!

If it’s a case of business as usual in the Dunne cloud-cuckoo-land bubble, under the severely mistaken delusion that things will magically turnaround because they’re somehow ‘better’ than relegation battle, then we’re already down!

We are in the position we are because over the season we haven't been good enough regardless of being "better" than those below us.
That said what else could he say? If his views represent the majority of the team then great stuff. It means they have fight, desire and belief. All three of those things have looked to be missing. A positive attitude is halfway there.
Cut out the mistakes at the back, take the chances up top and we could still win all 5 games. Easier said than done but doable.
