IT was a miserable day for north Essex sides in the Thurlow Nunn League.

All five of the Gazette’s premier division sides lost, with the biggest shock undoubtedly being promotion-chasing BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT crashing 4-2 at basement boys Woodbridge.

Brightlingsea dropped two places in the table, from second to fourth, having been leapfrogged by both Felixstowe & Walton and Gorleston.

Felixstowe pipped Thetford 1-0 while Gorleston were comfortable 3-0 winners at home to out-of-sorts STANWAY ROVERS.

In the battle to avoid relegation, there were defeats for WIVENHOE TOWN and FC CLACTON.

The Dragons had picked up four points from their previous two games, beating Kirkley and drawing against CRC, but were brought back to earth after losing 2-0 at Mildenhall.

Clacton are still just above the drop zone but produced a poor performance in their 2-1 defeat at home to CRC.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC lost 2-0 at home to Godmanchester Rovers.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN lost 2-1 at home to leaders Whitton United.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES led 2-0 but ended up drawing 2-2 at home to Great Yarmouth Town.
