Dunne confident U's can pull away from danger

Joe Dunne insists his Colchester United players are not feeling the pressure of a relegation battle.

And the U’s boss believes four more wins might well be enough to stay in League One.

Colchester head into their game at Crawley Town lying three points above the bottom four, with 12 games remaining.

The U’s are four points better off than they were at the same stage last season and have lost six fewer matches, this time around.

.......added to which most of the U's remaining fixtures are against sides in the bottom half of the table (and against all below us bar one); with many at home; and also our goal difference is massively superior; plus we have one or two games in hand.....and more valuable points already in the bank
.
Plenty of scope for banana skins; given we are almost in a mini-league at the bottom (with a head start though); but we must have one of the easier run-ins; having already played most of the league's 'form teams' twice. At least three teams already look doomed given their position and remaining fixtures. Beat them and we should easily pick up the last few points we need against the rest.

Tranmere, Notts County, and Crewe were either bottom or very close to the bottom at the time and we've been beaten by all three of them at home,4 - 0 in the case of Notts County. Where they are in the league is to a large extent irrelevant, it's what attitude we go into the games that matters most. We have had too many lifeless displays this season to be able to count on beating anyone.

Your rubbish Joe Dunne and you know it,a large majority of fans that attend the games have had enough of you and your inept management of the side.you alone are fast making me lose interest in the club.and im sure there are many other fans feeling the same as i do.Why dont you just pack in and take that pathetic captain Wilson with you,he is not good to be playing in the football league, more suited to sunday morning pub football, and allow yourself plenty of time to get the team to the crawley ground.players turning up late for the bradford game was a disgrace.i had been to work for nine hours that day, travelling around essex, went home and cooked my tea and still got to the ground before some of the players.and to add insult to injury you and the team dished up another embarrassing shambles. Can only see another defeat tomorrow.please prove me wrong.

I agree to a certain degree regards to Wilson being captain but for you to say he is not good enough to be playing football league is crazy, he's played over 370 league games 60 being in the championship. I'm hoping we can get back to back wins tomorrow & Tuesday push us up that table. Be good to see how many on here will praise the boys when we do.

I would say Wilson is on of the weakest players In the team and I have no idea why he is the captain. Good luck to the team and hopefully 3 much needed points today

Yes Wilson may have well played 370 league games 60 of those in the championship, but that is in the past, you have to look at what a player has on offer now in this present day,and he is being exposed as a very weak link in every match,he is slow, clueless and his passing is shocking,i dont believe he would command a first team place in any other football league club on his performances this season,i actually feel embarrassed for him when i watch him play,he is no way captain material. He is not the only weak link in the side ,there are other players who would not make it into any other league one teams, but wilson is for me the weakist link, and the fact is we are just a very poor side.Come on Col U prove me wrong and give me something to be cheerful about.
