Bankole: The sky is the limit for Colchester United's Walker

THE sky is the limit for Sam Walker following the goalkeeper’s permanent switch to Colchester United.
That’s the view of U’s goalkeeper coach Ademola Bankole, who believes the young shot-stopper can get better and better.
Walker, 22, has joined Colchester on a permanent basis from Chelsea, following two successful six-month loan spells at the League One club.
The 6ft 6in shot-stopper has penned an 18-month deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium – and goalkeeper coach Bankole has backed him to keep improving.
Bankole said: “The sky’s the limit for Sam.
“He’s still a young goalkeeper and it’ll be when he’s 26 at the earliest before he really hits his peak.
“I still think that there’s plenty more to come from Sam.
“He wants to learn and I think he’s getting better all the time.
“Since Sam has been with us, we’ve been working on his weaknesses as well as his strengths.
“There are things that he can still add to his game and when he does that, he’ll be top class.
“It’s great news for Sam that he’s signed the contract and it’s also great news for the club.
“I think the manager and the chairman deserve credit for signing him as well.
“He’s been playing regularly for us and I think that’s helped his confidence.
“He wants to play football which he’s doing at Colchester and I think he’s done the right thing.
“A career is like a house, in that you build the foundations and that’s what Sam is doing.
“You never say never in football and he’ll be striving to get back to the top level.”
Walker has been ever-present in Colchester’s starting line-up this season, making 29 appearances for Joe Dunne’s side.
The U’s keeper has been in impressive form of late, helping his side keep four clean sheets in their last six matches.
